42nd street was phenomenal!! They closed the balcony so we got moved even closer. It was written in the 30’s when the “Cinderella musical” was at its peak. This meant there was a fluffy plot surrounding a spectacle. In this era entertainment was competing with the Ziegfeld Follies so the show had to be dazzling. Today, we recognize the plot is weak but the choreography is outstanding. Having been in tap, I KNOW how hard that is, and the show is about 50% tap. My dancer side was in love!
